Present Simple

Many people  (catch) a cold in the springtime or autumn. It is interesting - if scientists can send a man to the moon, why can't they (find) a cure for a simple cold. The answer to that (be) not difficult. There are many kinds of cold viruses out there. One never (know) which one they will get, so there (not be) a cure for each one. When a virus (attack) your immune system, your body (work) hard to stay healthy. Blood (rush) to your nose and brings congestion with it. You (feel) awful because you can't (breathe) well, but your body is actually "eating" the virus. Your temperature (rise). You also (have) a runny nose. At this time  your magnificent body is doing everything it (know) how to do. Different people (have) different cures for colds. Somewhere, people (eat) chicken soup. Somewhere a person (take) hot baths and (drink) warm tea. Other people (take) medicine to get healthy. However, some scientists (say) taking medicines if you have a cold is actually bad for you. The virus (stay)  in you longer because your body (not have) a way to destroy it itself. Bodies can do a great job on their own.

Traveling anywhere is fun because you get to (see) how people live in other parts of the world. One thing travelers (not think) about before traveling is how other cultures (take) a bath. And bathrooms in many countries may (be) different from what you are used to. In the USA, most people take a shower in the morning. The shower is usually on the wall and cannot be moved. One (stand) under the water, (get) wet, (use) a soap then water again and (dry) off with a towel. Children often (take) a bath each night and enjoy playing with rubber toys. For many adults,  a bath (be) a good way to help with stress at the end of each day.  (not forget) that when you take a shower or bath, you should be careful to keep the water inside the bathtub or shower. Unlike bathrooms in many countries, there is no drain in the floor. If water (get) on the floor it cannot go anywhere. This can cause problems for the floor. So always be very careful.

you (want) to  wander the world and see what (be) out there? Some people (prefer) to stay at home, but others have »the travel bug« and can't (wait) to explore the world. Exotic places call them all the time. "Come (visit) me and I will show you my mysteries," they (say). Every year millions of people (pack) their suitcases or put on backpacks and visit the seven continents of the world. They wander through the castles and museums, the cities and natural wonders. Someone (visit) the enormous exotic cultures of Africa and the Far East. Australia is also a wonderland for the person who (go) there. And a few lucky people even go to Antarctica. Why people (want) to explore the world? It (give) them a better understanding of the earth and the people living on it. It (open) their minds, it (give)  them a feeling of joy, and it (make)  them feel alive. So you (save) some money, get your passport ready, and see the world. You will thank yourself!
